			The major goals of the workshop are:   
 
· Review and discuss existing research findings and gaps as well as
programs related to workforce issues 
 
· Discuss actions needed to broaden participation in the STEM workforce 
 
· Identify strategic research areas and education funding priorities that will 
result in a rich and diverse STEM workforce strengthened by broader 
participation of U.S. citizens 
 
· Identify evaluation methodologies, criteria and metrics to measure the success
of future programs 
 
· Identify and propose strategies and funding mechanisms that will propel more 
underrepresented group members women, persons with disabilities, African 
Americans, Latinos, and American Indians) in STEM leadership positions 
 
 
 
The value of the workshop is to be found in its contributions to both NSF
