The Saraswati temple looks as resplendent as ever. What's new is a statue of G.D.Birla in front (see third picture below) that blocks the view of the temple looking out from the Audi.
I'd forgotten, but Sridhar reminded me, of the
faces of scientists such as Newton that are
carved into the temple's intricate exterior.
Reflecting on it now, I wonder if
the newsmaking religious purists of these
days would be upset at this.
The temple is less starkly religious because
of this, it seems to me, and because it didn't force itself
on students through assertively overt celebration of festivals.
