Welcome to the latest showpiece on campus, the new library. Costing four-crore rupees, and built out of Jodhpuri brown sandstone, the library is not only a splendid new building, it is also spacious and lit with natural light. The pictures say it all:
The main entrance:
The massive foyer just inside the main doors:
The remaining three pictures are of the central
rotunda with its massive domed skylight. You almost
expect to see Raja Mansingh strolling by with
courtiers in tow.
I couldn't help but wonder, shouldn't terminal rooms
receive such lavish attention and spending? After all,
students spend a good deal of time on their computers.
Why not abandon once and for all the insufferably
dull and clautrophobic warrens that are now standard?
