The Derivative Artist Project website is a continuation of a project created for Adaptive Learning Systems II, a graduate course taught by Prof. Bock of the Computer Science Department in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at The George Washington University. The project was designed and implemented by Ben Rubinger.
Problem Description – Why was Derivative Artist created? As a semester-long project, Derivative Artist was created to use artificial intelligence techniques (collective learning systems specifically) to create art. The technique employed seemed to work well, and so the project was continued as an independent study, which allowed issues that arose during the first development phase to be addressed.
