Mr.
Murphy is pursuing a doctoral degree in the Engineering
Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE) Department at The George
Washington University, Washington DC under Dr. René van Dorp.
His studies focus is on decision optimization in high risk, low knowledge
situations.
Mr. Murphy also
works for the Department of Homeland Security, where he manages research
and development efforts in the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects
Agency (HSARPA). His programs will help provide for more resilient electric
power systems by supporting capabilities and technologies to enable
operational and strategic resilience, and include research towards new
grid architectures, back-up and distributed systems, demand management,
and alternative energy sources.
Mr. Patrick Murphy
received a Master of Arts in Science and Technology Policy from The
George Washington University’s Elliot School of International
Affairs. His studies focused on the intersection of systems engineering,
economics, and policies for promoting innovation and dissemination of
innovations. He earned simultaneous Bachelors of Science and Arts degrees
in Electrical Engineering and Government
from the University of Notre Dame
