Colonel Mohamed Ali E. Ahmed was appointed as Assistant Defense, Military,
Naval & Air Attaché at the Embassy
of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Washington DC in June of 2005. In his
capacity, he is involved in coordinating activities between the Bahrain
Defense Force (BDF) and the United States – Department of Defense
(DoD) as well as various organizations in the defense industry. The
scope of these activities are related to policy, military cooperation,
foreign military sales, training and project management.
Lt. Col. Ahmed graduated from the Military
Technical College in Cairo in 1993, where he received his BSC in
Electrical Engineering and his MBA in 2000 from the University
of Bahrain. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Engineering
Management and Systems Engineering at the George Washington University,
Washington DC under Dr. René van Dorp. His research is focusing
on the simulation of activity networks as a method for cost/schedule
risk analysis during the design and contracting stages of large engineering
projects.
From 1993 to 1996, Lt. Col. Ahmed served as the Aircraft Armament Commander
in the Royal Bahraini Air Force – Helicopter Wing. He served as
a Quality Assurance Officer In-Charge within the Helicopter Maintenance
Squadron, from 1996 to 1998. He was then appointed as the Deputy Commander
for the Air Force Institute for Technical Studies from 1998 to 2004.
His last position prior to his current post was the Director of BDF
Chief of Staff Office.
Lt. Col. Ahmed was a part-time instructor at the University
of Bahrain from 2000 until 2005 teaching various courses, such as
Introduction to Business, Production & Operations Management, Operations
Research, Management Science and Sales Management. From 2002 until 2005
he was also a part-time instructor & local counselor for Operations
Management courses at the University
Of Strathclyde (MBA program). Prior to his arrival in the US, he
was also a part time instructor at The
University of Wales and Bahrain
Institute of Banking and Finance, where he taught and coordinated
quantitative methods for business core courses.
