Sebnem Sener is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering at the George Washington University, Washington DC under Dr. René van Dorp. She has been working for the financial sector strengthening initiative at the World Bank where she works on generating financial sector projects in low- and middle-income countries. Her projects mostly focus on the area of financial crisis preparedness. Prior to her career at the World Bank, she worked for private sector in Turkey for 2 years.

Her research focuses on financial modeling and dependence modeling. She received her bachelor degree in 2001 and her master's degree in 2004 from Middle East Technical University in Turkey.
