Travel Grants

 


The organizing committee of the ICDCS 2011 is pleased to announce the availability of funds to support student and junior faculty/researcher travel and registration to attend this year's conference and workshops. We would like encourage student and junior faculty/researcher participation by subsidizing the travel costs of individuals who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference.

 

Grants are supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and IEEE TCDP (Technical Committee on Distributed Processing)

 

 

Application Process


Requests for funding will be accepted up until the last day of the conference as funding allows, but will begin making awards on May 1, 2011. To increase your chance, requests for funding should be sent to du@cs.umn.edu before Sunday, 24 April 2011.


The organizing committee of the ICDCS 2011 is pleased to announce availability of funds to support student and junior faculty/researcher travel and registration to attend this year's symposium and workshops. Students receiving funding will receive up to $600, and junior faculty/researcher will receive up to $800, to offset the hotel expenses at Radisson Hotel (Conference Site) and registration fee.  Grants are available to students, junior faculty, and postdoctoral researcher from US schools only for NSF travel grant. However, some awards will be provided to international conference attendees from IEEE TCDP.

 


Eligibility Requirements


Any graduate student, junior faculty member or a postdoctoral researcher from US schools and other countries may apply. Any recipient of a travel grant must register for the conference and workshops, and may be asked to help some conference/workshop events and/or registration desk as a volunteer. Awards will be made based on several factors and the priority will be given to

a) historical under-represented and minority institutions,

b) minority and under-represented junior faculty and students,

c) student authors presenting at the conference or workshops,

d) economic need.


Application Materials


To apply, the student's advisor should send a one paragraph statement of economic need, student's progress toward graduation, student's CV, and research in areas related to ICDCS.


Junior faculty or postdoctoral researchers should send an email request including CV and short statement of economic need and research areas related to ICDCS to the same address.

Important Dates


Application deadline: Sunday, 24 April 2011 (applications received after this date may still be considered)
Awards will be announced on or after May 1, 2011.
