Welcome!

We welcome you to the 2018 NSF Workshop for Aspiring Principal Investigators (PIs) in Computer Systems Research (CSR). Many faculty, especially during the early stage of their academic careers, would benefit from an opportunity to learn more about the CSR programs, grant-writing experience, and opportunities to interact with NSF program directors.

Location

The workshop will be held on Friday May 11th, 2018 at the National Science Foundation at 2415 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA 22314. This location is easily accessible through the Metro and within a short distance of three major airports in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Registration

We welcome applications from the CSR and related communities. Perspective faculty are encouraged to submit an application early. Applications are due on April, 20th 2018 at 11:59PM EDT. Each application requires personal information (name, affiliation, email, etc.), a CV, and a one-page project summary.

Because of limited capacity, the selection process may give preference to the faculty members from HBCU/MEI, and under-represented groups, as well as early or mid-career faculty members who present a promising future research plan that fall within the research areas of CSR.

Registration is open here.

Travel Support

We anticipate offering travel support to a limited number of junior faculty. This fellowship will be used to cover their travel expenses.

Invited Speakers

We will invite NSF program directors to present the CSR program and answer questions from the participants. In addition, we have invited recent awardees to share their experiences with the participants.

Andrea Arpaci-Dusseau, University of Wisconsin, Madison
Randal Burns, Johns Hopkins University
Shan Lu, University of Chicago
Keith Marzullo, University of Maryland, College Park
