CS 3240: Pre-Senior Design
Your project website
Over this and the next two semesters,
you will maintain a project website with the following elements:
- The homepage will eventually (next year) feature two videos:
one will be a demo-video of your project, the other will
be your final project presentation.
- Your homepage will have a friendly, appealing
description of your project. Something like an abstract,
but less formal.
- At the top of your website, put up
a picture, and something about yourself, your interests.
- Below the picture is where you will describe your
project and eventually feature the videos.
- Create two tabs called "documentation" and "blog".
- The "blog" section of the website is what you will be
editing most frequently, at least once a week. Think of
this as your project diary, describing the progress you're
making with your project. Place useful links (for example,
links to tutorials, and APIs) you have found useful,
challenges you faced in getting an API or device to work,
and so on.
- The "documentation" section of the website is where
your written and project-presentation deliverables are to be
placed. These include BTL-1 etc.
The only thing you will NOT put up are team evaluations
and the feedback you provide to other team members.
- Note: the default document format will be PDF, unless
otherwise specified.
- Since your project website will be graded, you are
welcome to edit and add material to make it look nice.
- You should think of your project website as something
you can show prospective employers. Accordingly, you want
to make sure it's clean, attractive and helpful. For example,
a nicely written blog will show employers that you are a
person that contributes to a team in ways that go beyond
your technical work.
To set up your WordPress site, you will
find these instructions useful.
Important: Please do NOT put up your team evaluations
or feedback, or anything private that shouldn't be on the website.
