OK, you remembered: it's in the grand entrance to the Audi, just below the tower. The campus painting is noteworthy for several reasons. First, you'll notice there's no Malviya, and second, there are no New Wings. But most interestingly, the rest of it remains today. These are some pretty solid structures we've lived and studied in.
Luckily, I got to meet with the BITS leadership. Couldn't resist taking a picture. That's Venkateswaran, the current Vice-Chancellor, seated. L.K.Maheshwari, the Director, standing to the right, and K.E.Raman to the left. BITS now has a Vice-Chancellor to oversee the various campuses: Goa, Dubai and the soon-to-be Hyderabad one. I have to say this about BITS' hospitality, if I were to visit the University of Massachusetts (Amherst), of which I am an alum, I can't see the Dean let alone the President consenting to an impromptu meeting. It's awfully gracious of the BITS leadership to meet with me and talk at length about various issues. One of these, academic quality, is something that's of concern to an academic like me. I'm going to have to take that up elsewhere.
Here's a classic, unforgettable view of our dear old
M-Block. I should mention here that the names C-Block, M-Block and
S-Block, have been replaced by these bureaucratic-sounding
mouthfuls:
Faculty Division I, Faculty Division II and Faculty Division III.
Sridhar mimics a plaintive student in front of
the old ACB, the academic police of our times.
And further below is a view of the tower
from the same corridor pictured above.
The clock shows the right time.
